How to Submit a Prayer Request in Your Church Group

Last updated: February 20, 2026

Let Your Group Pray With You

One of the most powerful things about being in a small group is knowing that other people are praying for you — not just during meeting time, but throughout the week. Flock's Prayer Wall makes it easy to share what is on your heart and let your group lift you up.

Here is how to submit a prayer request, step by step.

How to Submit a Prayer Request

Step 1: Open Your Group

Open the Flock app and tap on your group. If you belong to more than one group, select the group you want to share with.

Step 2: Go to the Prayer Wall

Tap the Prayer Wall tab. You will see your group's prayer feed — recent requests from other members, along with encouragement and prayer counts.

Step 3: Tap the "+" Button

At the bottom of the screen, tap the "+" button to start a new prayer request.

Step 4: Write Your Prayer

Share what is on your heart. There is no wrong way to write a prayer request. It can be a sentence or a paragraph. It can be specific or general. Here are a few examples:

  • "Please pray for my mom — she is having surgery on Thursday."
  • "I am going through a tough season at work and feeling overwhelmed."
  • "Grateful for a new job opportunity. Praying for wisdom as I decide."
  • "My family needs prayer. That's all I can share right now."

You do not have to explain everything. Share what you are comfortable with.

Step 5: Choose Your Privacy Level

Before you submit, choose who can see your prayer:

  • Public — Every member in your group can see it, pray for it, and encourage you. Use this for requests you are comfortable sharing openly.

  • Private — Only your group leader can see it. Choose this for sensitive matters — things you need prayer for, but are not ready to share with the whole group. Your leader can pray for you and follow up one-on-one.

Your privacy choice can be changed later if you decide you want to share more broadly or make a request more private.

Step 6: Submit

Tap Submit and your prayer is posted. If you chose "Public," it appears on the Prayer Wall immediately for everyone in the group. If you chose "Private," only your leader sees it.

You will receive notifications when people pray for you, leave encouragement, or when your prayer is marked as answered.

Tips for Writing Meaningful Requests

You can share as much or as little as you want. But here are a few tips that help your group pray more specifically:

  • Be specific when you can. "Pray for my job interview on Wednesday" gives your group something concrete to lift up. They might even follow up afterward to ask how it went.

  • It is okay to be vague. "I am going through something hard and need prayer" is a perfectly valid request. Your group does not need all the details to care about you.

  • Update your prayers. When something changes — good or bad — you can post a follow-up or submit a new prayer. Your group wants to walk with you, not just hear a one-time request.

  • Use "Private" when you need to. There is no shame in keeping something between you and your leader. That is what the private option is for. Your leader is there to shepherd you, and they cannot do that if they do not know what you are going through.

  • Do not forget gratitude. The Prayer Wall is not just for needs — it is also for praise. Share what you are thankful for. Celebrate what God is doing. Those prayers encourage the whole group.

After You Submit

Once your prayer is on the wall, your group can interact with it:

  • Pray — Members tap the heart icon to show they have prayed for you. You will see a count of how many people are lifting you up.
  • Encourage — Members can write a short note of encouragement directly on your prayer.
  • Mark as Answered — When God answers, you (or anyone in the group) can mark the prayer as answered. The group celebrates together.

You can also update, edit, or delete your prayer at any time.

What Happens If I'm Offline?

If you do not have an internet connection, Flock saves your prayer locally and submits it automatically when you are back online. You will never lose a prayer because of a spotty connection.
